Who we are

Civic Sisters NC is a gathering place for North Carolina women who care deeply about their communities, their families, and the future of our state and nation.

We come together to share our stories — the personal, the practical, and the political — in a space rooted in respect, curiosity, and courage. We believe informed women are powerful women. And powerful women build strong communities.

Our Mission

To educate, support, and connect women across North Carolina so we can participate thoughtfully and responsibly in civic life — while caring for our mental, emotional, and physical well-being along the way.

What We Do

We gather to:

  • Learn about North Carolina state government and federal government processes

  • Discuss policies and how they impact our daily lives

  • Write informed letters to our elected officials in Raleigh and Washington

  • Encourage civic participation, including voting and community engagement

  • Support one another in staying steady, thoughtful, and resilient in challenging political seasons

We believe civic responsibility does not require hostility.
We believe engagement does not require outrage.
We believe women deserve spaces where their voices are heard without judgment.

Our Approach

Civic Sisters NC is not a social media movement.
It is not about shouting louder.

It is about:

  • Education over reaction

  • Conversation over confrontation

  • Empowerment over fear

  • Action grounded in knowledge

We care about women’s rights, constitutional freedoms, and the long-term health of our democracy. We also care about staying sane, grounded, and whole while engaging in civic life.

You might find us:

  • Practicing meditation and breathwork

  • Moving our bodies through yoga or walks

  • Laughing together

  • Writing letters

  • Preparing for elections

  • Showing up peacefully when needed

  • Holding space for honest conversations

A Safe Place to Speak

Civic Sisters NC exists because many women are looking for a thoughtful, supportive environment to process what is happening in our government — without being dismissed, attacked, or silenced.

This is a place to:

  • Ask questions

  • Express frustration constructively

  • Learn how systems work

  • Grow in confidence

  • Take meaningful action

We believe that when women are informed, supported, and connected — real change becomes possible.

Together, we educate.
Together, we support.
Together, we act.

And together, we lead with steadiness, integrity, and hope.
